The course consists of a close reading of “Inferno” in the Divine Comedy, the first canticle of the 14th century masterwork. We will follow Dante Alighieri, the great Florentine poet and statesman on the first stage of his redemptive voyage through hell. This year we commemorate the 700th anniversary of the poet's death, which makes it an ideal time to revisit this literary classic.
