“Edgar Allan Poe: His Life and Writings, Part II” is an online American Literature course where no mortal students have ever gone before. We cover Poe’s life and writings from his early years in Philadelphia where he continues to write his greatest short stories on psychological realism and detective fiction. This last section of the course deals with Poe in New York where he writes his most famous poetry and nonfiction.

Paul Macek has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in both history and English. He has taught U.S. History and American Literature at the high school level for over twenty-five years and worked as a proofreader and copyeditor for thirty years. He is the author of seven books concerned with history, education, and literature.
