The “road” to Japan was provided by “steppingstones.” Some of these stones are virtually forgotten, others have monuments in Washington. The Pacific theater never achieved a unified allied command and recognition like the European theater achieved. Topics will include MacArthur’s New Guinea campaign, Guadalcanal & Tarawa, Saipan & Guam and Iwo Jima.

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. John Ferriss, retired from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2011. He is a long-time history enthusiast and a railroad/train buff. He completed a Master of Arts degree in Military History from Norwich University, VT in 2016.
