Spanning everything from the directorial debuts of John Huston and Elia Kazan to the light adventures of Andy Hardy and the dark stories of Film Noir, the movies of this decade were unlike those of any other decade.  Join us as we examine the themes, historic forces, Hollywood trends, and foreign influences (e.g. Fellini and De Sica) that defined and shaped our motion pictures before, during, and after American’s sudden entry into World War II.

GROUP LEADER: Jeffrey Long has been writing movie reviews for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette since 2008 and teaches undergraduate film studies at Becker College.  He is also the author of Remembered Childhoods (2007), a guide to coming-of-age memoirs and films.
