Using the Bible as our text, we will look at some of the challenging, scandalous and risqué stories in Genesis, from both Jewish and Christian perspectives, that some may be surprised to find in the Bible.  The following topics will be included:  Reading the Bible; Drunken Naked Noah; Sister Wives; Sodom: Lot and his daughters; It’s Complicated: Jacob and Rachel, Leah, Zipah, Bihah; and Dinah and her brothers.

GROUP LEADERS:  Rich Simpson is an Episcopal priest, currently serving on the staff of the Bishop of Western Massachusetts.  Prior to that he served as rector of St. Francis Church in Holden for more than fifteen years.  He’s been teaching for WISE for nearly two decades. Rabbi Aviva Fellman is the spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel in Worcester, MA.  She holds a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Pittsburgh and earned her MA in Talmud and Jewish Law from Machon Schechter in Jerusalem.  Rabbi Fellman was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in NYC in 2012.

BOOK:  Any translation of the Bible (Genesis 9, 12, 19, 29, 34)
