This course will examine the relationship between Americans and the seas that surround them.  How did the oceans come to define who we are as Americans, culturally, commercially, and politically?

GROUP LEADER:  Jed Watters has taught classes in American maritime history at Assumption and at WPI.  He is a retired naval officer, and an ardent kayaker.
