Noted Yale University professor Jaroslav Pelikan (1923-2006) wrote a book titled Jesus Through the Centuries: His Place in the History of Culture in 1985 in which he set forth the many images of Jesus of Nazareth throughout history, such as “Christ Crucified,” “The Universal Man,” “The Teacher of Common Sense,” and “The Liberator.” This course is a continuation of Jesus Through the Centuries.  It is not necessary to have taken the first course. Each image of Jesus will promote a self-contained discussion. We will analyze and converse about each image of Jesus and evaluate its relevance for us today.
