American music flows through Nashville and Memphis.  From the Grand Ol’ Opry to Studio B to Sun Studios to Graceland, these cities became the home of the great songwriters and performers.  We’ll examine the music of Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and the Carter family, and, of course, Elvis.  We’ll add tunes from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Motown, Chess Records, and others.  We will cover Music Row in Nashville, Beale Street in Memphis, South Michigan Avenue in Chicago, West Grand Boulevard in Detroit and Highway 61.

GROUP LEADER:  Karl Hakkarainen is the technology adviser for WISE and has taught WISE classes on social media, radio, the news business, intellectual property law, history, work and culture.  He has always loved music and recently studied in Nashville and Memphis.
